Ryuumaru

‘Sup guys. Lets sit back and let me tell you the story of Ryuumaru. About how it was founded and how it is right now. This is gonna be a long post so brace yourselves!

Before I start talking about this group’s foundation, I’d like to mention some stuff about myself. I was a fabulous otaku wasting my time watching Animes all day, and doing part-time for living. Slowly, I started uploading Animes on many forums to kill my time since I didn’t have anything better to do. Then somehow, I ended up in Animetake. Animetake was like, really really dying at that time with no uploaders uploading on it. Only me, rag_iit and Tiggerz were posting stuff there. Slowly, Tiggerz disappeared as well and only me and rag_iit kept posting constantly. I remember staying up all night to post stuff, moderate the comments and keep the main clean from stupidity/spammers. Then rag_iit founded Kanketsu-hen and started subbing Inuyasha 2 with some TL who’s running his own shitty group right now. After some time, I asked rag_iit to let me join him as well. He agreed and I started encoding for them. warpsharp().upscale().warpsharp().upscale().warpsharp().warpsharp().upscale() is what I used to do at that time (to dumb it down, I sucked, I still do). But nonetheless, we continued.

A new season started after a while and I kinda felt like we should do a dumb show named “Ladies vs Bastards”. I talked to rag_iit but he didn’t care about it. I talked to a friend of mine and he agreed on doing that show. That’s when we founded Ryuumaru. Somehow a Inuyasha TL from Kanketsu-hen translated that pre-air of Ladies vs Bastards. But he bailed after that and my friend didn’t do anything either. Desperate enough, I went on a TL finding hunt. That’s when I found aznskman. That guy translated 3 shows a week and all of them within 2 hours. Because of him, we became a speedsubbing group. After a while, rag_iit ragequit fagsubbing because of his RL problems, so I ended up learning timing. After a few days, the typesetter (Hiyono may) ragequitted because I had her actually do work on something. So, I slowly learned typesetting as well.

So basically, Ryuumaru had only 3 members at that time (excluding Duratrix as he was useless from the start, also k1llz0r-chan as he was the distro). A translator, and editor, and me. I did ALL the work except for tl and editing. I have sacrificed sleep to fansub, withstood all the hardships. Have bared people bitching about how the crappy subs were even though I spent entire night working on them. BUT, the only reason I didn’t stop working was A SINGLE THANKS THAT SOMEONE WOULD DO AFTER RELEASING AN EPISODE! Yes, as much as it sounds lame, I decided to keep doing it as long as a SINGLE person appreciates our work. Shit continued, first season ended somehow. And to be honest, we did a REALLY terrible job since we were newbies (That’s why I am doing Omamori DVDs and correcting all the noob mistakes).

Second season started, and Cyc got sick and hospitalized which left only me and aznskman in the group. So I even started doing editing. That made this group a 2 man team (Although I suck at editing lolol). After a few weeks, I had to go somewhere but I still had QC to do. So I asked in #ryuumaru if someone’s interested in QCing for me. nixx` poped up and agreed in his tsundere style saying “Well, since I have nothing BETTER to do, I guess I’ll QC some shit ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌”, And I was like “oooooooook here’s the raw and script.” Well, he qc’ed, given me his QC report. It was good, he didn’t point out useless shit like any other newbie which I liked pretty much. I told him in my usual manner “Sup, you are now QCing for me. No objection. Kthx.” That’s how nixx` ended up in the group. I must say, nixx has done a terrific job ever since he has joined the group.

Anyway, half way through the second season, aznskman went to Korea at his home and never came back. That’s from where the downfall of Ryuumaru started (downfall in terms of speedsubbing). But somehow thanks to Moshiburner the bro, we finished the shows we had started. I cannot thank him enough for doing a fabulous job handling 4 series all alone. After a while, we thought that we should get more QCs. Posted a recruitment post on the blog and Akuji-sama appeared within 10mins. We tested him, and he turned out to be fabulous and we recruited him. And once again, this business continued with 4 members only. We hanged out doing 4 shows a week, pretty well. And I am totally satisfied with the work we did this previous season.

Season 2 ended, and summer started. We decided on doing Seitokai Yakuindomo. But the episode aired 1 day before it was scheduled on another channel and all of our plans got messed up. I begged around for TLs but no one agreed on doing it. Watching me desperately begging around, Moshi said “Shouganai na, omae wa.” and agreed on translating it. He was in a car on his way back to home, and he fabulously translated the entire episode/OP/ED within 3 hours. Thanks to him, I was able to release it 12 hours after the episode was aired. The next day, Sekirei aired and aznskman poped up out of no where saying that he’ll translate it. I was happy since I wanted to do it as well. Well, we did the first episode. But… aznskman never appeared after that. According to him, he got busy with RL stuff but I stopped paying attention to him as they all sounded like excuses to me. Anyway, around that time, I was hit by a shit-storm of RL shit and I had to leave the city for a month. So I couldn’t fansub for a month.

When I came back, I found a bunch of work in front of me. Most of all, Moshiburner got busy with RL stuff and we didn’t have any more translators. So the group basically died for like, 2 months. But thanks to Mr|Bushido, we were able to find mochichi. And thanks to her :efforts: we were able to catch up on all the stuff and she is pretty much keeping this group alive as well (I love you, mochichi ;___;).

So that’s the story of Ryuumaru from the time it was founded ’till now. We had a lot of fabulous members. Some of them were really good. Some of them were bad but we somehow managed to survive ’till now and I WILL NOT LET THIS GROUP DIE NO MATTER WHAT.

Also, our status on DVD/Bluray releases is always TOO slow. That’s because I’m the one who has to do all the work on them. But now that I am free of RL shit, I will start doing the Bluray/DVD business fabulously. EXPECT OMAMORI SOON!

So why did I post all this wall of text? I don’t know lol.
